Let’s face it. In our culture, the twisted roots and lies of abortion run deep.
Praise God, in Lansing, this community has united against the abortion industry and we have exposed the evil, by shining the light of Christ where God has allowed it.
It all began with your prayers and people united in faith, to close the doors of WomansChoice abortion clinic on Centurion Drive in 2011, and then WomanCare clinic in 2014, where the lives and heartbeats of 1,000 babies were being snuffed out and silenced every year.
Building bridges to Christ and a Culture of Life
Through the work of our pro-life family and friends actively engaged in building a culture of life, we have witnessed the transformative power of Christ. In the Northtown Neighborhood of northeast Lansing, we will take another intentional step forward on Friday, by inviting the students of Lansing Catholic High School to plant our landscape garden during their Work-a-Thon community service day.
If you haven’t read the whole story on how the WomanCare clinic was forced to close its doors, click here to read the story of how it all happened. The takeover was thanks to Bishop Earl Boyea, of the Diocese of Lansing, who signed his name to a three-year lease, and Fr. Steve Mattson of the Church of the Resurrection who negotiated the agreement with the building owners to move his parish offices to 4,200 square feet of space.
The dirty interior of the clinic was spotted with ripped wallpaper, rust-stained floors and filthy ceiling tiles. The church replaced all of that with new drywall, fresh carpeting and paint, and a peaceful, pristine Holy Family Chapel housing the Eucharist.
In this Chapel, we host post-abortion recovery liturgies to offer the transformative love of Christ to women who regret their choice. They wrestle with their mistake and entrust their children to God, finding relief, forgiveness and healing from the pain, shame, regret and guilt caused by the effects of abortion.
